About The Project

Rethinking Violence is a public history project informed and inspired by Micah Carlson’s work on Uncovering St. John’s. Under the direction of Dr. Andrew J. Torget of The University of North Texas, Carlson explores the local history of racial violence in Denton County through several exhibits and collections of archival material.

This project owes an intellectual debt to the shared thoughts, brainstorming sessions, and independent work of so many smart friends, mentors, and colleagues at The University of North Texas and across Denton County. To learn more about the development of Rethinking Violence, click here.
